SCHOOL COUNCIL / ECO COUNCIL

In September each class elected the above pupils to represent the school and Eco Council.
The School Council and Eco Council is combined and has 20 members which consists of 2 representatives from each class, a chairperson, vice chairperson and a secretary from year 6.

It is the responsibility of the Council members to share their opinions and those of their class with the rest of the Council. As a result they are dedicated and enthusiastic individuals who work hard to improve and enhance the school for the better.

The aim of the School / Eco Council is to improve the school to make it a more environmentally friendly place to work and learn. So far the Council has been involved in purchasing wet play equipment, organised year 6 wet play monitors and taken an active role in the recycling of bottles. During the forthcoming Spring term Council members will be involved in the amount of gas and electricity used within the school, and the amount of paper used and recycled. They will need to keep a close eye on class peers and encourage them to reuse, reduce and recycle – that includes their teachers too!!

St Helen's Eco Code Song!

St Helen's is an Eco school, Eco school, Eco school,
St Helen's is an Eco school
Saving the planet is what we do!
We don't want those green house gases, green house gases, green house gases,
That we learn about in our classes!
So we reduce, reuse and recycle,
reduce and recycle,
reuse and recycle
So we reduce and reuse and recycle
at St. Helen's Junior School!
